Grant Proposal GuidelinesLetter of Inquiry Whole Systems accepts a limited number of grant proposals each year. We fund projects related to the environment and living sustainably on the Earth. We take a broad view of the world situation, and seek to insert a small but useful financial boost where we see that we have the most leverage for change. If you look through our past projects you may get a sense of the diversity of projects we support. As a result is it difficult to stipulate on paper exactly what our criteria are. Thus we encourage any group interested in applying for a grant to submit a one page letter of inquiry before making the effort to write a full proposal. Project Criteria We are seeking projects that include at least one and preferably more than one of the following factors:
Note: We regret that Whole Systems Foundation does not have the resources to effectively make grants to organizations located outside the United States. If you feel that your organization meets the above general guidelines please send us a summary of your project. This should include:

Body of proposal should include (Please limit to 4 pages) 1. A mission statement of your organization. 2. What is the goal of the specific project you are seeking funding for? 3. How will the funds be used, be as specific as possible? 4. What is the time frame for this funding? 5. If this is an educational program, estimate how many people are directly or indirectly reached by the program in a year? 6. What criteria you will use to evaluate the success of the project. Are there concrete physical mileposts, changes in attitude, or other indicators of success. 7. What other foundations have made grant commitments to this project or to your organization. 8. What other foundations have received proposals for this project. 9. What are the qualifications of the director or other principals of the organization? What makes them uniquely suited for the tasks they have chosen? Attach a curriculum vitae. 10. How many paid staff members are there? 11. How many volunteers? Does the organization have the support of the community? How is this demonstrated? Budget Attach a budget which includes expenses and income for the whole organization and for the specific project for the most recent fiscal year and for the current year.
